It seems that Channel 4’s Benefit Busters Episode 2 was pulled from Virgin Media On Demand service and the online 4od service. Why?
Rumour has it that perhaps A4e ordered the On Demand/Catch Up availability to be removed due to concerned pressures over the services provided which could lose them their Flexible New Deal contracts (?) and also there has been next to none reviews of the Episode 2 Long-term Unemployed show in the press.
I am aware that it was added to On Demand but since it has been pulled and “Dolce Vito – Dream Restaurant” replaced the 9pm Channel 4 slot on Thursday’s the 27th August On Demand (even though this programme was on at 8.30pm).
It also is reported that the repeat show has been dropped from Mondays listings.
Is A4e censoring the internet once again and goign a step further with the press?
Did A4e decide that Benefit Busters Episode 2 was damaging to their reputation (as I predicted)?
Some comments from the internet:
- Can channel 4 explain why epsiode two has been REMOVED from the site, it was available to watch online yesterday, I and others have watched it online – but it is missing now.
- I WANT TO WATCH EPISODE 2 SO PUT IT ONLINE AND ALSO PUT IT ON VIRGIN MEDIA ON DEMAND SERVICE ASWELL
- I thought the bbc i player was bad but this is ridiculous why did they put this episode up only to take it back down again?
- Why is the full second episode of Benefit Busters not listed, only small clips are shown?
- Why isn’t this available yet? I assume there have been some complaints either about showing animal cruelty (something mentioned below) or the suggestion of bad press it gives to the company? C4 you have an interactive website so why not tell us if you’re going to show it or not?
- Why is this not available to watch? is channel 4 now hiding this program for some reason?
- Why isn’t this program available to watch online ? I watched the first episode and found it very interesting . Have A4E complained about this program ? Please let us watch and make up our own minds about it .
- A great programme – a real ‘eye-opener’ too. But I missed Benefit Buster Episode 2 last night (27/08/09)!! It was scheduled to be repeated on Mon 31/08/09 at 04:00 but that episode has now disapppeared from CH4 schedules! WHY??? Looks like it is not available to watch ‘Online’ either ??? Where/when can I see this episode??

the complete second program was on the c4 website after transmission and went missing the next day.
personally i have to be honest, some did not come out of this program well, the treatment shown to the “customers” was less than and common on new deal and sadly often worse then this.also some appeared to be inept and clueless and that was plain to see.

There wouldn’t be as much coverage as the episode about lone parents. They are one of the fave groups of people to attack today.

Ken id be keen to get hold of the video (via rapid share) or whatever delivery method possible. I think people should see whats going on and this episode needs to find its way onto various online video sites.

I agree – please if possible break the video up into 2 or 3 parts if using a method where the provider limits how much you can download. This obviously depends on quality and therefore the size of the file.

I’ve found a copy online, try downloading it from here: http://d01.megashares.com/?d01=7613c41
I’m really disappointed with channel 4…actually thought they had a pair but apparently not!
It’s yet another way this pathetic government is screwing over the public & controlling the masses…it’s a complete joke. We’ll be like the USA soon where the government fully control the media…gone are the days of being able to have an opinion (not to mention express it) & make your own choices. At least dictators are fairly honest about their motives & don’t disguise them in a sparkly, fake wrapping & call it a democracy!
