New Deal wasn’t designed for those with higher skills: why not?
Higher Skills, Degrees etc.
The first ever degrees began in 859 (thats the 9th century, I haven’t forgotten a 1 in front).
University
The first/oldest university in the English speaking world is Oxford University. The exact founding date is unknown and disputed but sometime in the 12th Century.
New Deal
New Deal began in the late 20th Century (1998).
There really is no excuse for the poor small minded labour policies. Degrees etc. far predates the UK welfare state of the early 1900’s not to mention so-called training programmes.
- The Worlds first English speaking university began 800 years prior to New Deal.
- Degrees existed almost 300 years before Oxford University.
- Degrees existed over a millennium before New Deal.
- Graduates found it difficult to get a skilled job decades before the recent recession and therefore before New Deal.
- The question remains. Why didn’t Labour include this in their New Deal scheme?

I am attending appointment to be referred to a Flexible new deal provider. I have a degree and concerned will be made to accept any job and asked to dumb down my c.v
